Alumni of Methodist Boys High school in Lagos, south west Nigeria and Yaba College of Technology, where He obtained a Diploma in Accounting in 1975 and later became chartered accountant in 1980 after training at Deloitte, Haskins and sells and D.O. Dafinone & Company. Over the years Fola Adeola received trainings from several prestigious Institutions and Universities accross the globe; such as Havard Business school,National Institute of Policy and strategic institute,Kuro Jos-Nigeria, International Institute of Management, Switzerland among others.

His Journey to the Word of Business and Enterpreneurship started in Ikoyi in 1986, After He conceived the Idea, which he relates to his close friend,business partner and long time confidant, Tayo Aderinokun to set up a Barbing saloon shop in Ikoyi, following the lack of such services in the area, with resident having to travel to the mainland to have ther hair cut. The saloon was operated and owned by both partners up until the year 1990, when they both moved on to establish their dream of owning a commercial bank.

In 1990, specifically August 2 Fola Adeola alongside Tayo Aderinokun received from the Federal Ministry of Finance, banking licence No. 58, dated August 1, 1990, and signed by the Federal Minister for Finance, Chief Olu Falae, for Guaranty Trust Bank Limited.

Mr Afolabi Adeola was at the helm of affairs of the bank as Managing Director/CEO from inception in 1990 up until July 2002, Before retireing voluntarily from his Position to make way for his deputy,co-Founder and partner, Tayo Aderinokun (Late) to continue the Piloting of the Banks affair from year 2002, which the later carried out successfully up until his dead in 2011.

Its worthy to note here that GTBank as its fondly called is one of Nigeria's leading and most successful banking brands, listed on the Nigerian stock exchange in 1996.

Aside the banking sector, Mr Fola Adeola as also served in various capacity in the Public, Government sector in the following capacity.
1. member of the National Honours and Awards Committee
2. member of the Solid Minerals Committee set up by Nigeria Federal Government.
3. Chairman of the National Pension Commission.
4. chairman, Lagos State Disaster Relief Committee, set up following the January,27, 2002 explosion of Lagos military base armoury, which left scores dead.
5. Vice Presidential running mate of the All progressie congress(APC) in 2011 presidential election alongside APC presidential candidate of Mallam Nuru Ribadu which was won by incubent President Goodluck ebele Jonthan.

Mr Fola Adeola is a humanitarian and Philantropist, helping thousands of Nigerians and Africans develop their enterpreneurship skill through his FATE Foundation , a non governmental organisation involved with training,mentoring, consulting and loan for start ups.

Fola Adeola is married to Mrs Hajara Fola Adeola (nee Atta) and are blessed with 6 childen.
